Is There Crafting in Warhammer 40K: Darktide? – Answered

Is the Darkcraft dream alive?

UPDATE: Crafting is finally in the game! Head over to the Shrine of the Omnissiah on the right of the Mourningstar, where you can now spend crafting materials earned in missions to upgrade the rarity of your gear. More features are also expected to come for the crafting system.

Original Article: Warhammer 40K: Darktide comes from Fatshark, a developer best known for its Vermintide series and more specifically, Vermintide 2. It’s an incredible co-op game if you have yet to play it, being one of the few out there that understands the genre’s strengths instead of being incredibly generic. One of the most beloved features of those games lets you create weapons and items using materials, so naturally, some are wondering if you can do that here too. Here’s whether there is crafting in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.

Can You Craft Weapons and Items in Darktide?

Unless you’re referring to build-crafting, the art of creating an item build that will stomp on the competition, no. As of writing, there is no way to craft any sort of item in Darktide. There are only a select few ways to get items and weapons, with one of those being quite inconsistent. The first of which, as you may already be aware, is the shop. This rotates items every hour, offering the best gear you can get given your level, though at a cost of some funds.

Another way is through Sire Melk’s Requisitorium, which offers purchasable weapons and items provided you have his currency. His can be earned by completing his challenges after hitting level 11, which can then be spent at your leisure. The final way is through the Emperor’s Gifts at the end of select matches, though this is inconsistent and mostly rewards random throwaway items.

It’s a shame crafting hasn’t come back in with Darktide, though no need to worry. In the most recent trailer for Darktide, the team gave a short glimpse of what improving your existing weapons is like. It’ll be really nice, considering that shops only refresh every hour and sometimes, you just want to improve what you have in your hands. We ourselves want a strong Shield and Maul for the Ogryn, but one can dream.
