Is Steamboat Willie in Lethal Company

Recently, Steamboat Willie, the first version of Mickey Mouse, entered the public domain, allowing anyone to use it in creative works. In Lethal Company’s Version 47 announcement, the thumbnail hinted at the chance of this character existing in the game, so we’re here to dive into this mystery further.

Is Steamboat Willie (Mickey Mouse) Coming to Lethal Company?

As of Version 47, Steamboat Willie does not exist in Lethal Company. With my recent playthroughs, discussions in the Lethal Company Subreddit, and various conversations in the game’s Discord, there have been no sightings of Steamboat Willie appearing anywhere on any moons.

The possibility of Steamboat Willie being added to Lethal Company initially sparked discussions when Version 47 was released, with the update’s thumbnail showing an image of a metal walkway, the “version 47” text, and Steamboat Willie standing in the background. Seeing this, the community went to social media to discuss where the character might appear, what weather conditions might be necessary, and other features that could confirm it.

However, shortly after the Lethal Company Version 47 update and announcement went live, Zeekerss edited the image to remove Steamboat Willie and now simply displays the metal walkway and “version 47” text at the bottom. The patch notes also don’t describe adding Steamboat Willie to the game, despite previous updates noting new characters and items implemented.

With that in mind, while Steamboat Willie could appear in the game in future updates, such as in Version 50, it’s also likely this was a way to joke about Steamboat Willie entering the public domain.
