Don’t shoot the messenger, but I was way too late to jump on the Runescape bandwagon. Finally starting my adventure this year, I decided to see what all the fuss was about, and after playing for a fair bit of time, you could say that I’m hooked on this classically styled MMO adventure. But, as with any sort of game, I need to find out if I can take it on the go and play it on my Steam Deck so I’ll never lose my progress. Let’s find out if Runescape is playable on the Steam Deck, or if you’ll need to stay in your seat to enjoy this one.

Can You Play Runescape On Steam Deck?

No matter if you’re an RS3 stan or a fan of OSRS, you’ll be able to jump into both of these worlds on your Steam Deck. This is great news, especially if you’re hoping to play on the go, and while the game may not support joystick movement, the Trackpads make it fairly playable.

If you’ve gotten your hands on a Steam Deck dock, it may be beneficial to plug in a keyboard and mouse to play this one, but you can actually progress fairly well with just the built-in controls, as long as you set up the proper Controller prompts to pick up the slack of not having a keyboard.

It’s not exactly the most comfortable way to play, but if you don’t happen to have a gaming PC or a laptop that can run the game properly, this is an amazing option to use.

If you’ve been playing Runescape for the longest time and you’re hoping to make the full migration to Steam, you may be wondering if you’ll be able to log into your current Runescape account on the Steam client. The answer is yes, but you’ll need to visit the Jagex website and link your accounts together before jumping into the Steam Version.

You’ll need to visit the Runescape website, log in to your account, and complete the merger before signing into the Steam version, otherwise, you may be left with only a new character. I did not have a prior account, so I could not personally test this, but Steam Forums and Reddit Threads have made mentions of this method.
