How to Find Familiar in BG3

BG3 Find Familiar is a level 1 Conjuration Spell that you can use to summon a familiar of your choosing. This BG3 spell takes a level 1 spell slot, 1 action point, and is Ritual cast. You can learn this spell naturally through the Wizard, Ranger, Trickster Rogue, Warlock, and Eldritch Knight Fighter classes.

Is Find Familiar Good in BG3?

Yes, Find Familiar is good, but it takes some thought and planning to make it truly shine. One of the uses that are good for the Find Familiar ability is to apply negative effects on your foes, such as debuffs and DoTs (Damage over Time effects). The familiars would not necessarily be on the “frontline” of the combat, but more of an assistance. A lackey, if you will.

For example, some creatures are not very rich when it comes to health. And it seems like if the wind blows too hard, it might kill them. But not all familiars are built for combat.

We recommend the Raven Familiar, who can inflict the “Blind” status effect and fly all around the battlefield. This makes it an excellent choice for combat encounters, and checking for safety from a distance.

Using your Familiar for reconnaissance is a great way to make the most out of them. You can use the summoned unit to scout ahead for any danger, check for any treasure, distract enemies, etc. Give them a chance and try out their powers, and you’ll certainly find at least one use for Find Familiar beneficial for your playthrough.
