With the launch of Season 3 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, the BlackCell upgrade of the standard Battle Pass has been added to the game. This has been promoted as a more premium or exclusive version of the pass we’re all used to with some extra incentives.
The BlackCell version of the pass is $30 and it can’t be purchased with any COD Points that you’ve saved over time. At such a high price for cosmetics, it’s important to see what’s inside and if the bundle is really worth buying, which we’ll discuss in our Season 3 guide.
COD MW2 and Warzone 2 – Is the Season 3 BlackCell Battle Pass Worth It?
At $30 for a pass upgrade, this new offering is flashy, but may not be the deal that a lot of players are looking for. Anyone who purchases the bundle can expect some extra COD Points and 12 additional skins for the standard operators. Most of them are gold versions of the operators with some additional details. As a pass, the BlackCell is probably not worth buying and but it’s really up to how much you think the gold skins are worth. Below you can find the full offering.
All BlackCell Items:
- Access to the full Season 03 Battle Pass and 20 Tier Skips (25 on PlayStation)
- 1,100 COD Points instantly awarded
- Up to 1,400 COD Points awarded throughout the Battle Pass
- A BlackCell Operator, attired in an imposing animated Camo skin
- A Pro-Tuned Weapon Blueprint, Vehicle Skin, and Finishing Move
- An exclusive BlackCell Sector within the Battle Pass AO serves as an alternative starting location
- Immediate unlocking of adjacent Battle Pass Sectors to the BlackCell Sector
- Additional, BlackCell-only Battle Pass content: Every Season 03 Battle Pass Sector with an Operator Skin has a BlackCell variant (12 Skins in total) to unlock

Whether something like this should be included in the game at all is another story, but there are some decent skins included in the bundle. When you begin Season 3, you’ll be greeted with a Battle Pass offering path. Standard is probably the best way to go, but again, it’s all preference.
