Every true ending of the zombie mode requires a ton of puzzle-solving and cooperation to figure out how to progress outside of the endless hordes of zombies. Once you have the Ice Staff and you’ve made your way back to the Crazy Place, you’ll need to solve a riddle to begin upgrading the staff. Head to the area where there are a series of floating rocks with symbols above you and a pillar with a series of dots on them.
You’ll need to match the pillar with the dots and shoot the floating symbols with the Ice Staff in the correct order. Now, the code will change every game, so you need to know how to read the pillar. Below, we’ve created a map that explains how to read the symbols and know which ones to look for.

Once you’ve inputted the correct sequence based on the game’s randomized code. After this, you’ll need to find three tombstone locations and shoot it with a weapon other than the Ice Staff. You’ll find one right by the soul chest behind Juggernog. The second one is directly behind it inside one of the giant’s footprints. You’ll see it next to a body impaled on a stake just on the edge of the trench. The third and final tombstone is by the tanks station. Hop up on the tank and look for the broken robot outside the boundaries. It is to the left of the downed robot.
Head back to the mound and go underground. Here you’ll be able to rotate the giant rings on the amplification device using the handles around the stairs. Line them up, so all of them are blue to correspond with the ice staff. Now head to the bottom, look inside the middle of the rings and shoot the floating blue ball with the ice staff.
Now you’ll need to head back to the crazy place. Now head to the Ice Staff holder and put it inside. You’ll then need to kill zombies nearby to charge the staff to its full power. After roughly 25 zombies, your staff will be charged, and you can go pick it up. Now you have a fully upgraded Ice Staff.
