You can even put on a fashion parade with a friend by playing Super Mario Maker 2 in local co-op!
As with most of the good things in life, these clothes ain’t free, but you won’t have to put in much work to unlock them. There are dozens of clothing items to unlock to dress your Mii in for that perfect profile picture, so here’s how to unlock all the Super Mario Maker 2 outfits and costumes.
How to unlock all Super Mario Maker 2 outfits and costumes
The steps to unlock each Super Mario Maker 2 outfit or costume are listed below. Once you’ve completed the criteria for unlocking the clothing item, you’ll be able to find it in your Mii customization menu. To dress up your Mii, head to Course World and then select your Mii to begin picking things out of your now bursting wardrobe and try them on! Here’s how to unlock those Super Mario Maker 2 outfits:
- 1-Up Hoodie: Default clothing.
- Black Short-Shorts: Default clothing.
- Denim Jeans: Default clothing.
- Denim Skirt: Default clothing.
- Nintendo Shirt: Default clothing.
- Super Mushroom Shirt: Default clothing.
- ? Block Hoodie: Unlocks after you earn a Bronze Medal in Endless Challenge mode.
- Bowser Jr. Headpiece: Unlocks after you get a high score in 10 courses of Endless Challenge mode on Easy difficulty.
- Angry Sun Shirt: Unlocks after you get a high score in 10 courses of Endless Challenge mode on Normal difficulty.
- Platform Skirt: Unlocks after you get a high score on 10 courses in Endless Challenge mode on Expert difficulty.
- Hoverclown: Unlocks after you get a high score on 10 courses in Endless Challenge mode on Super Expert.
- Stingby Skirt: Unlocks after you get a high score in 100 courses in Endless Challenge mode on Easy.
- Faceplant: Unlocks after you get a high score on 100 courses in Endless Challenge mode on Normal difficulty.
- Cloudless: Unlocks after you earn a high score in 100 courses of Endless Challenge on Expert difficulty.
- Superball Mario Hat: Unlocks after you interact with a ? Block in Story Mode.
- Builder Mario Hat: Unlocks after you complete the “Meowser Showdown” task in Story Mode.
- Princess Peach Wig: Unlocks after you complete Princess Peach’s second task in Story Mode.
- Frog Cap: Unlocks after you complete all of Soundfrog’s tasks in Story Mode.

- Shy Cap: Unlocks after one of your custom courses gets 100 plays.
- Big Spender Shorts: Unlocks after you complete 100 courses.
- Cat Mario Headgear: Unlocks after you clear 100 courses in total.
- Cheep-Cheep Hat: Unlocks after your custom course gets 500 plays.
- Thwomp Onesie: Unlocks after you play 500 courses.
- Shorts of Doom: Unlocks after you win your first Multiplayer Versus match.
- Bowser Headpiece: Unlocks after you win several Multiplayer Versus matches in a row.
- Fireworks Shirt: Unlocks after you win 5 consecutive Multiplayer Versus matches.
- Nintendo Uniform: Unlocks after you get an S-Rank in Multiplayer Versus mode.
- Laughing Shirt: Unlocks after you get A-rank in Multiplayer Versus mode.
- Doctor Hat: Unlocks after you get a B-rank in Multiplayer Versus mode.
- Luigi Cap: Unlocks after you get a C-rank in Multiplayer Versus mode.
- Burner Skirt: Unlocks after you clear a course in Co-Op Multiplayer.
- Magikoopa Hat: Unlocks after you clear 10 courses in Co-Op Multiplayer.
- Yoshi Hat: Unlocks after you clear 100 courses in Co-Op Multiplayer.
- Pipe Hat: Unlocks after you set a first-world record clear time.
- Matrimony Dress: Unlocks after you earn your first Bronze Medal with spikes.
- Rocky Wrench Manhole Cover: Unlocks after you earn your first Silver Medal.
- Fancy Top Hat: Unlocks after you earn a Silver Medal with spikes.
- Royal Crown: Unlocks after you earn your first Gold Medal with spikes.
- Hot Hot Shirt: Unlocks after you set a first-world record clear time 10 times.
- Parent-and-Child Skirt: Unlocks when you complete a course first before anyone else.
- Staredown Shirt: Unlocks after you earn 2,000 Maker Points.
