Finding a Weapon

There are a lot of different weapons in Splatoon 3. Every gun has quirks to figure out from the heavy damage dealing buckets to the long-range Charger Rifles. Finding a weapon that suits your playstyle will help you elevate your skills. Are you better at inking the ground and enemy teams’ ink rather than killing? Try the Aerospray MG or Sploosh-O-Matic. These weapons can cover a ton of ground quickly.

Do you prefer to kill the enemy team quickly and efficiently? The Octobrush or Dualies can get you in close and personal, decimating them before they even have a chance.

Use Your Sub Weapons

Every main weapon in Splatoon 3 comes equipped with a pre-determined sub-weapon and ultimate ability. Your Sub Weapons are great for zone control. If you’re trying to fish an enemy out of a corner or high vantage point, try throwing your sub-weapon. Most of the time, these are grenades or other ink-spewing little toys at your disposal.

Learn which one you have and how to utilize it best. Do you have the force field? Be sure to throw it down in a fight to give your team an advantage. Maybe you have the curling bomb; let it loose to give your a straight path forward of your own ink.

Mastering the use of your sub-weapon and how it can change the flow of battle can elevate your matchups.

Ink the Ground

This might seem obvious, but you’d be surprised how many players just go for kills on the enemy team and forget actually to cover the ground in ink. Turf War is decided by which team has the most ink on the ground, and you need to remember to be covering every inch in your team’s color constantly. Don’t get tunneled vision from your bloodlust. Remember, ABS. Always Be Spraying.

Clothing Abilities

While looking fresh is part of the charm of Splatoon 3, be sure to look at the abilities your clothing gives you. This can be used to your advantage big time. If you have an increased ink recharge rate, that’s great for weapons that use a ton of ink. Learning the ins and outs of which abilities pair well with which weapons are a trial and error process, but purchasing clothes while max ability slots are crucial. You can always visit Murch in the Square to add or customize your abilities for each piece of clothing.

Use Recon Mode

You can talk to the orange fish in the town square to go into Recon Mode. This allows you to go into any multiplayer map and roam around. It’s a great tool to learn the maps and understand where all of the nooks and crannies are. Use it if you’re trying to find new routes or vantage points to get the drop on your enemy.
