How to Win Major Order Defend Campaigns Against Automatons in Helldivers 2

When I say the job of winning a Major Order Defend Campaign against the Automatons in Helldivers 2 is tough, please believe me. While the Terminids throw numbers at you, Automatons throw similar numbers, but they give those numbers weapons and swords. It’s a lot to swallow.

But to win Defend Campaigns, you must protect scientists, ensuring the civilians evacuate the facility safely while pushing back a never-ending force of Automatons. According to the story, the cowardly Automatons have engaged Super Earth planets, targeting civilian outposts and facilities, and we’re the only force capable of stopping an army of robots.

To win, you must bring firepower. You want powerful Strategems, like the Guard Dog Rover, Eagle Airstrike, and various Sentry Turrets to protect the chokepoints.

Tips for Beating Back the Automatons

To beat back the Automatons and win the Defend Campaign, I recommend not tackling this mission solo. You want a complete party of Helldivers with top-tier equipment and Stratagems. Then, break the party down into roles. It would be best to focus half on defense and half on the civilians. Ideally, everyone can hold their own, but it’s better to work in pairs.

There is a central building where all scientists will rush to for evacuation. I recommend placing a turret on either side of the building, near the ramps leading up to the door, to help secure the entrance. In my mission, the Automatons would walk straight up to the door and camp like a bunch of noobs.

If you have someone with a Recoilless Rifle, make use of it! You can destroy the Automaton Dropships before they release their payload. Otherwise, focus on popping an Orbital EMS Strike on occasion to shut down Automatons entirely, offering you a brief moment of respite to gather your wits and reload your weapons.

While you were dealing with the Automatons, the Terminids were making progress. Here’s how to kill Bile Spewers on that front!
