How to Use Vow of Tulin in Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)

After completing the Wind Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (real dungeons are back, yey!) and returning normal conditions to the Hebra region, Tulin (Link’s side-kick during this stage of the game) will unlock the “Vow of Tulin, Sage of Wind” key item that will enable you to use his “Gust!” ability whenever you want. Let’s check out the guide below to find out how to use Vow of Tulin in Zelda TotK.

How to Summon Tulin in Tears of the Kingdom

The Vow of Tulin will be automatically enabled when you get it after defeating Colgera in the Wind Temple, however if you have completed any Temples before this and have other key items with the abilities of other Link’s friends, you will need to enable it manually.

Here’s how to summon Tulin with the Vow of Tulin:

  1. Open the Inventory by pressing the + button
  2. Use L or R to navigate to the Key Items tab
  3. Select “Vow of Tulin, Sage of Wind”
  4. Press the A button, select “Summon” and confirm it with A once more.

How to use Tulins Ability

When summoned, Tulin’s “hologram” will follow you just like Tulin did during the Wind Temple quest. His “Gust!” ability can be used by pressing the A button, and it is most useful during Glider flight – because it can extend your flight range and save stamina. Just keep in mind, the cooldown for this ability is not fast, but even with the default stamina you will be able to use it at least twice during one flight.

Like with everything else in Tears of the Kingdom, you can improvise and find other creative ways to use this ability. For example, I found out that “Gust!” can also be used during battles, when Tulin’s “hologram” is near you, just press the A button to send a gust of wind towards the enemies – which can push some lighter ones off a cliff.
