No core left behind

Most bosses in Cyberpunk 2077 will provide some Iconic Weapons as a reward for a hard-fought battle, but the Chimera yields a Chimera Core, and it isn’t obvious how you can use it. After you win your battle in the museum, I can help you put your core to good use and collect an even better reward for Phantom Liberty.

Where to Use the Chimera Core in Cyberpunk 2077 (Phantom Liberty)

To use the Chimera Core, you need to open up the crafting section in the player menu and scroll over to the Tier 5 Iconic Weapon Mods at the top. There are four different mods that you can craft using the core, and you only need that singular material to yield the reward you want. Each of the main weapon classes has one version of the Chimera Core mod tied to it, so use the piece wisely.

Once you create the mod you want in Cyberpunk 2077, you can unequip it from any of your weapons at any time. even if you destroy a weapon with the Iconic Chimera Mod installed, the mod will go back into your inventory. But you can still only choose one specific mod to use.

All Chimera Core Mods Listed:

  • Firecracker – Shoots explosive rounds. (Power Weapon)
  • Wallpuncher – Allows you to charge the weapon to 200% capacity without increasing charge time. Also has +100% Armor penetration. No penalty for penetrating cover. (Tech Weapon)
  • Hackatomy – Provides +5% chance to apply a quickhack effect. Effect type depends on the body part hit. (Smart Weapon)
  • Severance – When an enemy is below 50% Health, each hit to their head or limbs has a 20% chance to dismember and instantly kill.

The unequippable effect is universal for all four mods, so don’t worry about having to choose one for that buff. With that said, I would base it off your most used weapon and then try something else in another playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077.
