How to Upgrade CS:GO to Counter Strike 2

Will we have to open our wallets again?

After weeks of speculation, Counter-Strike 2 is finally becoming real. The newest version of Valve’s outstanding online shooter will be arriving during Summer 2023 and promises to be more than a mere legal name change, introducing new mechanics such as the introduction of “sub-ticks” and a very impactful change on Smoking Granades, leading to a lot of excitement from fans around.

The game will indeed be a new version of CS:GO, but how will it actually arrive in players’ hands? Will they have to buy it just like they had to buy GO before it was made free?

How to Update Your CS:GO to Counter-Strike 2

Your wallet is safe for now because Counter Strike 2 will be made available as a free update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. After the game is officially launched later this year, all CS:GO owners will receive an automatic update through Steam to rebrand it to the new title, where they will be able to enjoy all of those interesting changes.

All items and progress will be kept after the update, so there is no need to worry about losing anything. That’s the same reason you get to use all of them when playing the Counter Strike 2 Limited Test through GO’s own client if you’re one of the selected players to have a first-hand view of the servers.
