How to Unlock WoW Dragonflight Allied Races in 10.1.5

Vulpera for all!

Later this Summer, we’ll be getting the next chapter of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, and with it, a whole slew of quality-of-life changes. Among those is a change to how you’ll be unlocking Allied Races, which previously required large, complex quest chains that pertained to certain aspects of past expansion. Here’s what’s changing:

Unlocking Allied Races in WoW Dragonflight patch 10.1.5

To unlock all Allied Races, all you need is a single level 40 character. After this, go to your Faction Embassy (found in Stormwind or Orgrimmar) and choose the race you’d like to unlock, then do their unlock scenario as done in the past. These quest chains are fairly short, usually taking less than an hour each. Trust me; they’re a heck of a lot shorter than the previous requirements were.

You might not even know what the Allied Races are! If that’s the case, here’s a quick rundown:

All Allied Races in WoW Dragonflight

Alliance Allied RacesStormwind Embassy

  • Void Elves
  • Lightforged Draenei
  • Dark Iron Dwarves
  • Kul Tirans
  • Mechagnomes

Horde Allied RacesOrgrimmar Embassy

  • Nightborne
  • Highmountain Tauren
  • Mag’har Orcs
  • Zandalari Trolls
  • Vulpera

Allied Races are, for the most part, simple tweaks on existing ones – for example, Dark Iron Dwarves. There are a few that are unique enough to feel totally new, however, like Vulpera and Kul Tirans. These options were once starved for the appropriate amount of cosmetics, such as hairstyles. Still, Blizzard has addressed these criticisms in the last few years by introducing new customizations for many races.

Unless you’re a super-mega-elite raider or something (in which case, you are certainly not looking at this guide), just pick the one that looks cool and suits your playstyle! Class/race restrictions are being loosened all the time, so it’s probably a matter of time until we get, say, Lightforged Draenei Warlocks. Touches earpiece… I’m getting confirmation that we are, in fact, getting Lightforged Draenei Warlocks in patch 10.1.5. Awesome.
