How to Unlock the Dark Arts Battle Arena in Hogwarts Legacy

"Free" curses for everyone

The Unforgivable Curses are some of the most interesting features of Hogwarts Legacy as you can freely use them with virtually no consequences. You obviously cannot curse your fellow students, but aside from that, you’re free to use them in the open world. There’s even an exclusive area included solely for the sake of practicing said spells: The Dark Arts Battle Arena.

Found in the surroundings of the Forbidden Forest, this area allows you to use all three Curses even if you haven’t learned them through the traditional methods yet in order to battle numerous waves of enemies. Here’s how you can start the magical rumble.

Where to Find the Dark Arts Battle Arena in Hogwarts Legacy

The Arena is only available for those who preordered the game or purchased the Deluxe or Collector’s editions. If you only got the base game, you can still unlock it if you get the Dark Arts Pack later down the line, so don’t bother searching for it if you don’t own it.

Head for the north of the Forbidden Forest and search for the Arena’s icon on the map, close to its borders. Make sure you’re strong enough to get rid of any annoyances in the forest and follow the icon until you find a statue locking your entrance to the Arena.

To enter, you must break the 10 nearby pots with a basic spell cast. Use Revelio to reveal them while walking in the nearby area until you get the unlocking cutscene for the Dark Arts Arena. It will now be permanently available for you to test your combat skills and, most importantly, use all of the curses as much as you like.

The Unforgivable Curses behave just like they usually do in regular gameplay, but you can freely use your other spells as well as Confringo to deal with the constant waves. Survive as long as you can and have fun using a killing spell with no real consequences!
