How to Unlock the Chimera Honey Badger in MW2 & Warzone 2

Ghost or Ghosts?

Season 1 Reloaded has begun in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, so that means plenty of new gifts have arrived just in time for the holidays. New Operators and a map are part of those gifts, but the Chimera assault rifle is certainly one of the most exciting additions for players to look forward to.

Also known as the Honey Badger thanks to Call of Duty: Ghosts, the Chimera is part of the same line of weapons as the M13B, which was introduced at the start of season 1. Just like any other DLC weapons introduced in the past few years, you won’t be able to use the weapon immediately. Some obstacles or challenges will need to be conquered first. We’ll review how to get your hands on the Chimera as the new update drops.

MW2 & Warzone 2 – How to Unlock the Chimera AR

There are two main ways that you can unlock the Chimera within Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2, and DMZ. The first way is geared toward DMZ players who love going for some new loot. In Season 1 Reloaded, a new POI called “Building 21” was added to the DMZ map. Anyone who goes here will be met with a challenge in which they can claim the new Chimera AR as their own. Those who extract with the Honey Badger can keep it.

Another challenge method is the traditional route. Simply kill 2 Operators with assault rifles in 15 different matches. Most of the time, gaining challenge progress and leaving the match is a viable strategy. Try out one match, get your two kills, and leave. If the stats are tracking, run that 14 more times. However, if it isn’t tracking, then you must complete each match.

For those who don’t want any challenges, you can buy the Chimera in a future store bundle, but there is no exact release date yet. Either wait for the bundle or have a friend drop the weapon for you in DMZ and extract with it. That method is far easier than getting the true Building 21 blueprint, but someone still needs to earn it first in Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2.
