How to Unlock and Use the EAT-17 in Helldivers 2

Exceptionally Awesome Tactics.

The EAT-17 is one of the (newly) most reliable options for dealing with Chargers and other armored foes alike in Helldivers 2. I would say it’s indispensable but it quite literally is dispensable. You know what I mean. Here’s how to unlock and use the EAT-17 in Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2 EAT-17 Unlock Requirements

The EAT-17 ‘Expendable Anti Tank’ can be unlocked at level 3 for 3,000 Requisition Slips. Once you’re level 3, just head over to the ship’s terminal to purchase it. It can then be equipped in a Stratagem slot and called in on a 70-second cooldown, providing two rockets.

Surprisingly, having a quick and dirty way to fire off a round or two can provide a lot of advantages over the traditional Recoilless Rifle. For one, you’re saving yourself a backpack slot, so you can bring a Guard Dog Rover, Shield Generator, or Supply Pack along as well. Also, it’s a great way for two Helldivers to fire rockets in tandem with one drop-in on a short cooldown.

How to Use the EAT-17 Effectively

After calling down two rockets and grabbing one from the pod, it’ll be ready for firing after a brief unfolding animation. There are a number of wonderful use cases for these:

  1. Killing a Charger in one headshot
  2. Blowing up Dropships in one shot to any one of the four engine units
  3. Crippling or destroying tanks, cannon towers, or Hulk Devastators depending on where they’re hit
  4. Destroying Spore Towers or Propaganda Towers from as far away as you’re able to hit them

EAT-17’s are one of my absolute favorite reliable weapons to bring into the field. They’re multi-purpose, always ready to use, and quick to whip out in the midst of chaos. Another tip: call in more than you need. There’s no reason to let rifles sit on cooldown when you can be dropping them all over the map for base defense or even return trips.

Now get out there and blow up some bugs.
