How to Unlock and Evolve the Phas3r into Photonstorm in Vampire Survivors

OK, which meme is this weapon related to?

Yes, Vampire Survivors now has a space laser gun. Phas3r is a weapon added in patch 1.9, and it can be evolved into Photonstorm. Here’s how.

How to Unlock the Phas3r in Vampire Survivors

Phas3r is the starting weapon of Space Dude, one of the two new characters in Vampire Survivors Patch 1.9. You will unlock Phas3r for all characters once you push Phas3r to Level 7.

  • Level 1: Generates thin damaging zones. Has a high scaling for Amount.
  • Level 2: Fires one more projectile.
  • Level 3: Increases the base Area by 50% and base Damage by 3.
  • Level 4: Fires one more projectile.
  • Level 5: Increases base Area by 50% and base Damage by 3.
  • Level 6: Fires one more projectile.
  • Level 7: Increases base Area by 50% and base Damage by 4.
  • Level 8: Fires one more projectile.

Phas3r is a laser gun that shoots horizontal laser beams of different colors around your screen. As the game text says, it generates thin lines (zones) that deal damage.

How to Evolve Phas3r into Photonstorm in Vampire Survivors

Phas3r is evolved by having maximum levels of Phas3r and Empty Tome in your inventory and picking up a Treasure Chest with the hopes that the RNG will immediately “proc” the evolution on the first go. If you loved the light show the Phas3r has displayed, you’ll absolutely become ecstatic when you see the “Caramelldansen” vibe the Photonstorm emits.

I actually firmly believe that there’s no way this isn’t a Caramelldansen or He-man reference since poncle often makes pop culture references in Vampire Survivors.

What Does Photonstorm Do in Vampire Survivors?

The in-game text for Photonstorm reads:

Evolved Phas3r. Fires 2 to 5 times more projectiles, depending on your Luck.

I know there is a seizure warning when you boot up Vampire Survivors, but my moral obligation is to restate it in this article. This thing is indeed flashy. And it deals a good amount of damage, but the downside is that it’s only firing horizontally. At any rate, try it out, but I feel there are many better weapons in Vampire Survivors.
