Players will first need to own the Operation Guns DLC to be able to get the Short Gun. Players who do not have the DLC will not be able to access any of the new levels, characters, or guns.

The next step is to unlock and evolve the Long Gun, which must be done first before the Short Gun can be unlocked. This will not take very long depending on your survival skills, and players can always leave a match before the timer expires as long as the initial objective has been completed.

Evolving the Long Gun will unlock the Lance Bean character, who already comes equipped with the Short Gun, to purchase from the character selection screen. Surviving 15 minutes with Lance Bean will unlock the Short Gun for any character in the game can use.

The Short Gun can evolve into the Prototype B weapon by upgrading the Short Gun to max level while owning the Weapon Power-Up and Bracer passive items. The Weapon Power-Up is new with the DLC and looks like a grey briefcase.

The quickest method to evolve the Short Gun is to play as Lance Bean on the Neo Galuga level. Lance Bean always starts with the Short Gun and there is a Weapon Power-Up just south of where players spawn on the map.

Like other evolutions, level up your character to max out the Short Gun at level eight, then defeat an elite monster at around the 10-minute mark to open up a chest with the Prototype B evolution. Players can then safely leave the match once it is obtained, or finish it up to tackle other missions.
