Have you ever made a mistake while creating a bind in the CS2 console, or you just wanted to clear a key and start over? It’s much easier than you might imagine.
Unbinding keys in CS2 is not a complicated procedure at all, and I will be glad to show you the easiest way to bind and unbind keys in CS2.
How to Clear a Bind From a Key in CS2 in the Console
To unbind a key in CS2, you should follow these simple steps:
- Open the developer console by pressing the “~” key. If you do not have it enabled, check out how to enable the console in CS2.
- Type
unbind
followed by the key you want to unbind. For example, if you want to unbind the “T” key, you would typeunbind T
. If you want to unbind your Mouse 1, you would need to typeunbind Mouse1
. A lot of players use Mouse Wheel Up or Mouse Wheel Down for various commands, so to clear these you will need to typeunbind mwheelup
orunbind mwheeldown
. - Press Enter to confirm the execution of this console command.
- Test out to see if your key is truly unbound, just to make sure.
Once you’ve executed the command, the key will be unbound and you will no longer be able to use it for its previous function. Now, you can use the bind
command to bind a new command to the desired key.
How to Bind a Key in CS2
It’s a reverse process from unbinding, logically, and here is an example that you can use to your advantage when you are practicing Smoke grenade lineups:
bind "F2" "toggle cl_crosshairsize 2 500"
The “bindtoggle” command existed in CSGO, but no longer exists in CS2.
You will notice that quotation marks are not necessary sometimes. In these examples, you only need them to round up a command with a space in it so that you can signal to the console that it’s a singular command. In the above example, “F2” can pass without quotation marks, and due to a lot of spaces in the argument “toggle cl_crosshairsize 2 500”, quotation marks signal to the game to encompass everything in that bind command.
