There are all sorts of wildlife in Minecraft that you can interact with. Some can be tamed, some cannot. Some are friendly, and some are less friendly. Taming a horse in Minecraft can be difficult if you are not aware of how the tame mechanic works. This is why Prima Games is here! I will be glad to show you how to tame a horse in Minecraft in the easiest way possible.

How Do I Tame a Horse in Minecraft?

Step one: find a horse. Horses can be found in plains and savanna biomes in Minecraft. Once you find a horse, right-click on it (while holding no items) to attempt to ride it. The horse will be initially displeased by your actions and will try to knock you off repeatedly. Once hearts start popping out and you manage to stay on the horse without getting shaken off of it, you can consider the taming process a success.

You can expedite the taming process by feeding the horse. It will make it happier and less likely to knock you off.

How to Ride a Horse in Minecraft

Riding a horse in Minecraft is possible after you’ve tamed it, but you will notice that you have zero control over the direction it goes in. In order to control where the horse goes, you will need to find a Saddle. You’ll need to find one as it can’t be crafted.

It is also possible to breed more horses in Minecraft.

How to Find a Saddle in Minecraft

A saddle can be found in many locations throughout Minecraft:

  • Bastion Remnant
  • Desert Temple
  • Dungeons
  • End City
  • Jungle Temple
  • Nether Fortress
  • Stronghold
  • Village

Usually, you will get it from a chest. Sometimes, as a mob drop, and occasionally, a villager might have it for trade! In the most rare case, you will be able to fish it out.

To ride a horse and control its movement, you need to put on the Saddle and mount it. You can also equip an armor piece below the saddle to protect yourself during battles.
