How to Survive the Shooting Range in Dead Space Remake

They weren't kidding when they said "live fire exercise".

Dead Space Remake is full of surprises, with many being revamps of some of the classic moments you’ve remembered for years now. Even something as simple as the game’s intro has seen some major overhauls and changes to make it feel fresh and a little more up-to-date. One such area comes later in the game, and can even earn you an achievement if you play your cards right. Here’s how to survive the Shooting Range in Dead Space Remake.

How to Pass the Shooting Range in Dead Space Remake

To get to the Shooting Range, you’ll first need to head to Chapter 8: Search and Rescue. As you’re exploring the Valor, you’ll come across said Shooting Range with it being unmissable. Make sure not to pass it and progress towards Chapter 9, as if you do, you won’t be able to return. In the room will be a kiosk in front of the Shooting Range itself along with a helping of Pulse Rifle ammo. Once you activate the kiosk, red and blue holograms will appear as you’re tasked with shooting them.

Now as much as you might be inclined to start lighting the red holograms up and participating in the “live fire exercise”, you should hold off and save your resources. At partway through the course, the lights will turn dark and the computer will announce a quarantine, as several necromorphs begin dropping into the room. You shouldn’t need us to tell you, but you should begin lighting the necromorphs up. Once you’ve dispatched them all, the lights will come back on, some of the previously locked lockers will unlock, and you’ll score yourself the Front Toward Enemy achievement.

While Dead Space is by all means a serious, horrifying game, having small moments of reprieve like this are neat and helps to lessen some of the tension. They make for a nice surprise scare as well.
