How to Summon Grigoire the Galvanic Saint in Diablo 4

Honestly, it's a really fun fight.

You may have heard tale of the elusive uber bosses that have taken to Sanctuary in Diablo 4’s Season 2. You might even have the Living Steel to summon one. But if you’re not sure where to find Grigoire the Galvanic Saint, here’s how to find him in Diablo 4.

How to Find Grigoire the Galvanic Saint in Diablo 4

While Season 2 might seem like it’s only about the blood and fangs, players with a love for challenge and Uniques have something more tantalizing on the menu. Mini-uber bosses are now scattered across Sanctuary. But getting to them can be quite challenging—especially Grigoire, the Galvanic Saint.

All mini-bosses in Season 2 of Diablo 4 can be summoned at specific altars in specific dungeons, so long as you have the right summoning material. Grigoire, the Galvanic Saint, is challenging to find because he requires Living Steel, a unique consumable item that can only be found in Helltides.

All the other mini-boss consumable items can be found in the Tree of Whisper Caches. I’m practically drowning in Blacked Femurs and Gurgling Heads. But getting Living Steel is difficult for several reasons.

Living Steel can only be acquired by:

  • Being on World Tier 3 or World Tier 4.
  • By finding a Tortured Gift of Living Steel in the Helltides.
  • Spending 300 Aberrant Cinders to open the Chest of Living Steel.
  • Defeating the chest’s guardian, He-Who-Grins-Wide-and-Waits.

The Torture Chest of Living Steel, like the Tortured Gift of Mysteries, can only be found by coming close to it. Only then will it appear on the mini-map. Fortunately, there is always one guaranteed chest in each Helltide, and Helltides come every 2 hours and 15 minutes. But these chests will only drop one Living Steel.

You’ll need two Living Steel to summon Grigoire in World Tier 3 and five Living Steel to summon him in World Tier 4. I delve more into how to find Living Steel in the tagged article below.

Once you’ve gathered enough Living Steel, you must bring it to Grigoire, the Galvanic Saint’s altar. This altar can be found in the Hall of the Penitent south of Ked Bardu. If you look closely, you’ll notice that its dungeon icon is different from the others because it has a skull and a small yellow circle on it.

Enter the dungeon, and you’ll find that it’s quite small, though it will have enemies within. These enemies are primarily Knight Penitents, which makes sense. Grigoire the Galvanic Saint is essentially a giant Knight Penitent with Electrified Obelisks.

You can think of him as an extremely beefed-up combination of the Knight Penitent and He-Grins-Wide-and Waits. But with a cool bullet hell boss battle.

To summon Grigoire, approach the Altar at the very back of the small dungeon. He’ll then appear. Even if you die to him (which I admittedly have), will not despawn him. So, don’t worry about gathering those Living Steel again.

Defeating Grigoire the Galvanic Saint is well worth it, as he drops a nice assortment of Uniques. Here are the Uniques you can expect to see.

Grigoire drops Uniques that you can find in the world at large, so long as you’re in World Tier 3 or 4. But farming them here is much more time-efficient.

Here’s what you can expect to see:
