The first requirement is actually owning the Vessel of Hatred expansion for Diablo 4. The expansion can be purchased through three different editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate Editions. Once downloaded, your game’s character select screen should look different to reflect the expansion’s name and jungle theme. You can enter the Vessel of Hatred campaign straight away with any Eternal Realm character already created and no options needed to check.

Players who want to start Season 6 alongside the new expansion will have to create a new character. Select Create New Character to pick which class you want, including the new Spiritborn class, and customize however you like. Once you get to the Finalize screen, there will new options to choose from.

Select the Change Campaign State at the top to be presented two options: Start with the Original Campaign or Start the Vessel of Hatred Campaign. Choose the second option to completely skip the original campaign and immediately begin the expansion campaign.

Players new to the expansion will not be able to skip the Vessel of Hated campaign. The ability to skip the Vessel of Hatred campaign will be available after players complete the DLC campaign once. Once completed, new characters created in future seasons will have a third option to skip both the original and DLC campaigns completely.
