Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask DLC Prerequisites

To access The Teal Mask DLC in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you must have started the Treasure Hunt. You do so around three hours in, once you’ve met the Legendary Pokémon Miraidon or Koraidon (depending on your game version), visited the Academy, and completed the introduction.

Once you’re at that point, you’ll get a phone call from Jacq telling you that you’ve been selected to go on a field trip to another Academy. Go inside the Academy entrance hall in Mesagoza, where you’ll spot a blonde-haired NPC with a yellow speech bubble above her head.

See the exact map location in the images below:

Speak to the woman—known as Briar—to learn that she’s a teacher over at Blueberry Academy in the Unova region. She informs you that you’ll be heading over to Kitakami, a land “known for its picturesque fields and rice paddles.”

After the dialogue is over, speak to Briar once more when you’re ready to depart. But before you do, I recommend reading up on the top things you need to do before starting The Teal Mask DLC in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet so that you’re 100% ready to go.

You’ll arrive at a rural bus stop in Kitakami, just outside of Mossui Town, which serves as the base of operations for most of your Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask shenanigans. While you’re initially tasked with visiting the community center, there is a wealth of wild Pokémon the second you regain control of your character, so there’s no need to rush!
