Sprint like the lumbering wind

Imagine being born into a royal house, only to spend a really significant amount of your adulthood walking. For poor Clive Rosfield, this is an unfortunate reality. But at least there’s a way to get him to sprint. Here’s how to sprint in Final Fantasy 16.

How to Sprint in Final Fantasy 16 (FFXVI)

You’ll spend a lot of time walking from place to place during the early chapter of Final Fantasy 16. But did you know there’s a way to goad our fire-blessed lord into going just a bit faster?

To move in Final Fantasy 16, you press on your left stick. The angle at which you press it dictates which direction you go. By pressing it all the way forward, so that the stick is like a 45-degree angle in front of you, Clive will jog. Keep that button pressed down long enough, and Clive will sprint.

You can tell he’s sprinting because he’ll get airlines around him. He’ll also lean all the way forward, so you can no longer see his head. This is the fastest Clive can move by himself in the game.

While Clive is sprinting, you can turn left and right with a curve. But if you lift your finger off the left directional stick at all, he’ll come to a harsh stop. You’ll then have to build up momentum all over again. But when it comes to getting around Rosaria’s wilds, this is your best option.

As you’ve traversed the plains, marshes, and mountains of Final Fantasy 16, you’ve likely encountered Chocobos. And just like in past games, it’s possible to get one of your own. But to do so, you’ll need to complete a side quest many players look over. Check out how to get your own feathered steed here: FFXVI: How to Get a Chocobo.
