How to Solve the Small Stones Merlin Trials in Hogwarts Legacy

Sticks and stones.

The Merlin Trials in Hogwarts Legacy are scattered all over the map and there are a handful of versions that put your spell knowledge to the test. One version, in particular, can be hard to spot at first, but you’ll eventually notice that there are a bunch of small stones in the area that look like cannonballs.

Of course, these small stones are the key to solving the puzzle when you run into them. Seeing them and knowing how to place them are two different things though. Our Hogwarts Legacy guide will cover exactly how you can solve these Merlin Trials and be on your way.

Anytime you encounter these puzzles, the first step is to use Revelio and scout around the area. These versions of the trials tend to be the toughest to see because of the size of the stones. In total, you need to find three piles of small stones in the area, and they can be fairly spread out.

Once you’ve found all three sets, you also need to find the platforms they go in. Despite the piles of stones coming in five, the platforms will have four holes. Repeatedly using Revelio will highlight everything needed in the usual blue. With everything located, it’s time to start moving the pieces.

For these Merlin Trials in Hogwarts Legacy, Wingardium Leviosa is your friend. At many of these locations, you need to be able to lift the rocks onto the platform. Don’t worry about losing any, though, as they’ll stick together no matter where you pick them up or drop them. After you place all the stones in their platforms, the Merlin Trial with small stones is complete.
