Once you leave Vault 76 in Fallout 76, the world is your oyster to explore and exploit to your heart’s content. But to make it even a day, you’ll need to learn how to set up C.A.M.P. to survive the harsh wilderness and fauna roaming Appalachia!
How to Construct Your C.A.M.P. in Fallout 76
To set up your C.A.M.P. in Fallout 76, open your Pip-Boy and place down the C.A.M.P. device on a piece of flat ground in front of you. It must have enough room to create a build zone in a wide circle, and you can’t always build in pre-existing objects, like points of interest and buildings. If the placement is red, then it won’t work. You need a different spot.
If you ever want to move your C.A.M.P., you can do so via the same method. Just open your Pip-Boy, look down at the bottom, and select the corresponding key, which varies depending on the control setup you’re using. On PC, it’s “Z” to move a C.A.M.P.
C.A.M.P. Building Tips and Tricks
If it’s your first time building a C.A.M.P. in Fallout 76, then first off, welcome! It’s an exciting experience to place down your home away from home in Appalachia. This is your go-to spot for sleeping, crafting, and customization, as you can build your C.A.M.P. in any way you’d like. But if you want a few tips and tricks to get you started, then here you go:
- For your first C.A.M.P., remain focused. You want the necessities first, like an Armor Workbench, Weapon Workbench, Cooking Station, and Sleeping Bag. You likely won’t need any defensive items, like a Turret, just yet.
- Until you have enough supplies to truly construct your own home, make use of the Overseer’s C.A.M.P., just outside of the Wayward at the T-intersection.
- To build something unique, you need a lot of junk. As such, you’ll want to scoop up every miscellaneous item you find and scrap it for junk promptly.
- Invest in perks like Strong Back, Pack Rat, and Travelling Pharmacy to reduce the weight of items that you want to bring back to your C.A.M.P.
- Whenever you log in at your C.A.M.P., take a moment to rest in your sleeping bag for the Rested XP bonus. It’s how I leveled up so quickly to 100 within the span of a few weeks. You can likely do it faster, though.
