How to Save Your Game in Animal Crossing New Horizons

If you’re looking to save your game in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you must hit the minus button on your controller. This will open up the menu and ask if you want to wrap it up for the day. Your choices will then be to “Save and End” or “Keep Playing.” If you choose to end, you’ll save the game and go back to the title screen.

You can also save and end the game by sleeping in your bed. If you have any beds in your home, just go over to them and interact with them.

Of course, Animal Crossing New Horizons is constantly saving major changes to your island in the background, so if you forget to save one time, most changes will have been saved.

It’s important to note you can’t save if you have friends over on your island, or if you’re at a friend’s island visiting so make sure you’re alone on your own island first before attempting to call it quits for the day, otherwise you may accidentally lose your progress. Though also note that the game will save automatically once you cease online play.
