The Plucky Squire is one of the most charming titles of 2024, full of puzzles to solve, achievements to unlock, and NPCs to help. Early on in the game, there’s a particular fish during the campaign that’s made its way to land and needs to be gently released back into the water. Here is how you can save the fish in The Plucky Squire.

Save the Fish in The Plucky Squire

In Chapter Three, you’ll run into a fish out of water that needs your help getting back into the lake and reuniting with its beloved. It’s not immediately apparent how you’re supposed to get near it, but the solution is far more simple than what you’re probably trying.

To get to the fish, you need to simply walk under the bridge. I spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to interact with it, but the solution was literally under my nose the entire time. It’s not just obvious where you have to go at first glance, and the previous few puzzles can lead you to believe that there’s a more involved solution that requires flipping pages.

Follow the path shown below:

Once you reach it, a minigame will start, and you will have to time the grab and secure the flippery floundering fish. It’s not difficult at all and will only take a few tries.

Once you’ve grabbed the fish, it will thank you, and swim away. Saving the fish is necessary to progress, which is why it took me such a long time to figure it out in the first place.

Other puzzles in The Plucky Squire like getting Topsy’s Biscuits, or unlocking the Huge Frog achievement take just a bit more work, but it’s still on the easier side.
