How to Reveal Invisible Enemies in Baldur’s Gate 3

I really, really hate these invisible enemies

A handful of times, you’ll encounter invisible enemies in Baldur’s Gate 3, especially as you get into the latter sections of Act 2 and Act 3. And while dealing with these transparent foes can be frustrating, there’s more than one way to tackle them.

How to Reveal Invisible Enemies in Baldur’s Gate 3

You can play dozens, maybe even hundreds of hours before you face off against your first invisible foe. But once you encounter one, you’ll realize how irritating they can be. We spent quite a bit of time slashing at air while trying to pin down a particularly flying enemy in Act 3.

You can reveal invisible enemies in BG3 by using Faerie Fire, a See Invisibility spell/scroll, using an area of effect spell, or having Volo perform surgery on your eye. There are more ways to reveal invisible enemies in Baldur’s Gate 3, many of which can be accessed and embedded into your kit as early as Act 1.

Here are all the ways to reveal invisible enemies in Baldur’s Gate 3:

  • Faerie Fire – A level 1 evocation spell. All targets within its light turn visible and Attack Rolls against them have Advantage.
    • Can be acquired by Bard, Druids, Drow, and Drow Half-Elves.
  • See Invisibility Spell or Scroll – A level 1 Divination spell. Become able to see Invisible creatures, and possibly reveal them to others.
    • Can be acquired by Bards, Sorcerers, Wizards.
    • Can be purchased from merchants, most consistently those with a wizardly slant. In Act 3, you can purchase them from Sorcerous Sundries. But note, stock does change.
  • Use an Area of Effect spell – If the invisible creature fails their saving throw, they may be revealed.
    • Good choices for spells include Arms of Hadar, Web, Fireball. Stationary AOE spells are good at revealing enemies you know will push you. Fireball is good for hitting enemies when you have a vague sense of their location.

  • Allowing Volo to perform surgery on you.
    • After rescuing Volo, you’ll have the choice to let him perform surgery on you. By accepting, you’ll get a brand-new eye which gives you a permanent “See Invisibility” buff.
  • Use a torch.
    • Commonly found around the world.
  • Use Daylight spell.
    • This is a Level 3 Evocation spell with 18m cast range. You can acquire it naturally through the Ranger, Sorcerer, Druid, and Cleric classes.
  • Reveal Shadow-Cursed Lands enemies with any light source.
    • Enemies in the Shadow-Cursed lands are easily revealed with light sources like torches and Light spells.

Invisibility Dice Roll Ch

Keep in mind that invisible enemies must pass a dice roll check if they are near you. If they win the roll, they remain invisible for another turn. If not, they become visible. This dice roll continues until they fail it.

If you’re very desperate, don’t want to re-roll your characters, and can’t find a scroll to use, Withers can also summon you a Sorcerer or Bard who can learn See Invisibility. It might mean benching one of your favorite teammates, but sometimes sacrifices have to be made.
