How to Reset your Skill Tree in Diablo 4

Don't get stuck with the wrong skills.

Considering this is the early access launch of Diablo 4, trying out new characters and builds will be one of the most important aspects. The good news is that you can reset your skill tree if you decide you don’t like the way your build is going.

Unlike many other RPGs, you won’t have to find a specific NPC halfway through the main game to respec a build that you’re not a fan of. It can still be easy to miss the skill tree reset process though, so we’re here to explain the full system in our Diablo 4 guide.

Diablo IV – How to Reset your Skill Tree

As soon as you start the game and earn even one level for your character, you can reset your entire skill tree. You can find your tree when you open up the character menu and tab over to the abilities screen. On a controller, you’ll use the traditional start button and on the keyboard and mouse, you can simply hit Shift+S to bring up the tree.

When you reach the screen, you’ll see an option at the bottom to refund all, which is Square/X on controllers. Up until level 7 in Diablo 4, all of these refunds are completely free. After you pass that initial level, the cost to reset your skill tree will continue to increase.

Aside from resetting your entire tree and refunding all at once, you can also refund singular skills. This can save you plenty of time in reallocating your entire skill tree if you made one small mistake on your build. When you decide later on that you want to use more resets, all you’ll need is gold, so make sure to have some on hand.
