In BG3, during your mission to remove the parasite from your head and figure out what’s happening in the world, you’ll often find characters in dangerous predicaments that you can either ignore or save. Here’s how to rescue Barcus Wroot and find his pack in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Rescue Barcus Wroot the Gnome in Baldur’s Gate 3
Once you visit the Blighted Village and approach the windmill where Barcus Wroot and Fezzerk are, you’ll have multiple choices for tackling the situation. You can attack them immediately, demand an explanation, or allow them to continue. To rescue Barcus, you’ll either want to attack them or get Fezzerk to explain, with the latter giving you additional options for handling the dialogue:
- Performance
- Deception
- Intimidation
- Wisdom
The first three options are DC 5 charisma checks; the last is a DC 2 wisdom check. However, these values can increase in some cases, so using a character with high Charisma or Wisdom is your best bet for getting through it safely. Choose the option in which you have the highest odds of success or attack them to deal with the situation quickly.
Upon defeating them or getting them to flee, head inside the windmill and activate the release brake to stop them, allowing you to rescue Barcus and search for your reward after a brief chat.
How to Find Barcus’ Pack in Baldur’s Gate 3
After saving Barcus and initiating a conversation, tell him you want compensation. He’ll mention his pack, which you can find by entering the wooden hatch next to the windmill and searching the heavy backpack on the opposite side of the room.
In the backpack, you’ll find a smoke powder satchel, some gold, and a few food items to add to your camp supplies. You’ll also spot a nearby chest containing additional rewards.
