How to Remove Rocks and Boulders in Satisfactory

Everything can be cleaned with explosives, right?

There are hundreds or even thousands of annoying debris like rocks and boulders in Satisfactory. At the start of your playthrough, you can avoid them when building your base, but when you start expanding, this debris ruins the aesthetic of your planned-out layout or factory. Luckily, some of them can be removed, and here’s how you can remove these rocks and boulders in Satisfactory.

How to Destroy Rocks and Boulders in Satisfactory

To remove rocks and boulders, you have to get a little explosive, literally. Yes, the only way to clear debris is to blow it up. You’ll need to unlock several things and progress to at least acquiring Sulphur, Steel, Coal, and others of the same tier. You’ll also need several items from lower tiers, like Reinforced Iron Plates, Wires, Screws, and Cables.

All of these are used to craft Nobelisks (bombs) and Nobelisk Detonators (weapons or detonators).

Crafting the Nobelisk Detonator

Go to your workbench and look for the Nobelisk Detonator (it also needs to be researched on the MaM). It needs the following items:

  • 1x Object Scanner (4x Reinforced Iron Plates, 20 Wires, and 50 Screws)
  • 10x Steel Beams
  • 50x Cables

Once you have the Nobelisk Detonator, equip it with one of your equipment slots. Now, you need the explosives.

Crafting Nobelisk Explosives

Nobelisks are also crafted on your workbench and need the following items:

  • 2x Black Powders
  • 2x Steel Pipes

Unlike the Nobelisk Detonator, you’ll want to craft multiple Nobelisks. If you plan on destroying several rocks and boulders, you might want to craft close to a hundred of these bad boys. It is also great for fighting wildlife, so it really depends on how many resources you have available.

Once you have the Nobelisk Detonator and the Nobelisks, go to a boulder and throw a Nobelisk on it. Move away from the bomb and use the Nobelisk Detonator to blow it up.

It should clear the rock or boulder. It’ll also clear out some of the resources near it, so you should be aware. If the rock or boulder doesn’t disappear, it means that this debris is part of the landscape, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

The only workaround is to build a foundation and lift your planned layout above these rocks. If you have to relocate to a different area, that would be better than building through these undestroyable rocks and boulders. You have the ability to unlock a map and put out beacons anyway. Things will get easier in the end once you unlock other tech, so don’t worry about expanding to farther locations. If you have friends you can invite, you can double up your progress.
