How to Lower Crime in Your City in Frostpunk 2

Crime has a statistic you can access on the top panel. It is usually located below the heating icon or index in the middle. Increases in crime are caused by the lack of goods, increased tension, and lowered loyalty/trust among the people. If you don’t fulfill their needs and wants, crime will steadily increase, and it will cause several other problems you don’t want.

To reduce crime, you can do these two things: increase security by adding Guard Squads or produce more Goods. The easier way would be to produce Goods. You can build Industrial Districts and allocate some of them to produce Goods instead of Prefabs. Build enough Industrial Districts producing Goods until you don’t have a negative Goods metric on the top panel. If your Goods metric is still negative but with a low number, it is okay as long as you pay attention to your Goods stockpile.

If you want to reduce crime by increasing your Guard Squads, you have to research the Watchtowers using the Idea Tree. After researching it, you can construct Watchtowers that add Guard Squads to your city. However, it also increases your maintenance, so you want a good mixture of Guard Squads and Industrial Districts producing Goods.

It is always important to take note of crime because you may get exiled if tension increases and your people don’t feel safe anymore. Crime naturally increases as your population grows, which is why you always need to look at these metrics when you start progressing.
