Cassandra couldn't have predicted this.

A safe’s only as good as its lock. Here’s how to get into the safe in the Clerk’s Office in Alone in the Dark.

How to Get into the Safe in the Clerk’s Office in Alone in the Dark

When you first find yourself in Derceto, you won’t have access to many rooms. But one of the earliest rooms you’ll be able to investigate is the Clerk’s Office on the first floor. This room will contain all manner of helpful clues, like Patient Records. But it also contains a safe.

To get into the safe naturally, you’ll have to wait until Chapter 4. Once you’ve reached that chapter, head to the second floor and go to Cassandra’s Room. Once you enter, you’ll find Cassandra’s wheelchair, which will have a typewriter on it. Interact with it to get Cassandra’s Last Page.

This clue will explicitly spell out the combination! To get into the Clerk’s Office’s Safe in Alone in the Dark, input the code 913. Remember to scroll left when inputting 9, scroll right (all the way back around, past XII) to 1, then scroll left (again past XII) to 3. Remember the order for scrolling, as you’ll have another safe you’ll have to crack in Chapter 3.

Doing so will open the safe. But there are two possible rewards when opening the safe. If you open the safe before Chapter 4, you’ll get the Lagniappe Alone in the Dark. If you open it when you’re meant to, you’ll get the Keys to Dr. Gray’s office.

If you’re trying to get some other cool items early, I highly recommend unlocking the Shotgun as soon as possible in Alone in the Dark. The Shotgun is a powerful weapon that can absolutely obliterate early enemies. And, honestly, the more weapons in your arsenal, the better.
