How to Make a Sour Sandwich in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk

One of the many BBQs in The Indigo Disk sometimes assigns students to prepare a Sour Sandwich to get their so-desired BP. The task is quite simple as long as you know what you should add to your two slices of bread.

To make a Sandwich taste Sour, add as many Sour ingredients as you can. Adding three or more should be enough to guarantee that flavor, and it’s always safer to make your original creations instead of following recipes to avoid wasting unnecessary ingredients if all you’re aiming for is the taste.

It’s okay if you add more types of ingredients as long as Sour-tasting ones are still the majority. And if you’re making this sandwich solely for the BBQ, don’t worry about using your Sour Herba Mystica. While it gives you the desired taste immediately, there are cheaper methods to achieve the same results.

All Sour Ingredients in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Using a few of the following ingredients will make your Sandwich 100% Sour. Bring an appetizer if you must.

  • Cherry Tomato
  • Kiwi
  • Marmalade
  • Mayonnaise
  • Pickle
  • Pineapple
  • Potato Salad
  • Tomato
  • Vinegar

Many ingredients are classified as having multiple tastes in the game. No problems should arise when adding them as long as the majority of the other ingredients are still Sour-tasting ones.

  • Cream Cheese (Salty/Sour/Sweet)
  • Cucumber (Sour/Bitter)
  • Jam (Sweet/Sour)
  • Ketchup (Salty/Sour)
  • Olive Oil (Sour/Bitter)
  • Strawberry (Sweet/Sour)
  • Yogurt (Sour/Sweet)

The Sour Herba Mystica is unnecessary and should be saved for hunting rare Pokemon, as the ingredient itself is also quite rare and produces powerful Meal Effects. You should see your character wriggling their face when eating the sandwich, indicating it’s as sour as it can get.

Stock up on the ingredients as you’ll probably still need a lot more in the future, considering how many BBQs you’ll still have to do in the late game to unlock some extras.
