As you continue your Honkai: Star Rail adventures, you’ll encounter a particular obstacle during the main story: getting high enough Trailblaze levels to progress further! You can be having a grand time, chatting with NPCs and beating bosses before seeing that “requires Trailblaze level” red text pop up. Whether you’re level 24, 34 or somewhere else, it makes many of us sit back and wonder how to skip the grind and get there as fast as possible. If you want to learn more, continue reading to discover how to level up quickly in Honkai: Star Rail.
How to Level up Quickly in Honkai: Star Rail
There are many ways to get Trailblaze EXP, from doing quests to doing daily and weekly activities. There are no shortage of things to do and ways to gain EXP, especially as you progress through the story and find more things to do.
Below are a few examples of ways to level up quickly in Honkai: Star Rail:
- Completing missions
- Daily Training
- Simulated Universe Immersion and First-Time Clearance
- Operation Briefing
- Using Trailblaze Power for Survival Index activities like Calyx Buds and Cavern of Corrosion
- Opening treasure chests
At first, you might look at this list and get overwhelmed by all the options. Depending on your level, you may not have all these options yet. At the same time, with how much there is to do, you can get thousands of EXP a day just by playing the game and progressing through the story!
Let’s talk about that a little more now, shall we? Get ready; there’s a lot to cover here.
Completing Trailblaze, Adventure and Companion Missions
Completing the main story and doing side quests will be your bread and butter for leveling up. Missions can give you anywhere from 100 to 350, with the main story providing even more.
A good chunk of your EXP will come from just playing the game and doing adventure quests. Any companion missions that come your way will also give you Trailblaze EXP, so be sure to do those too!
Daily Training in Honkai: Star Rail
You can do various randomized tasks daily to gain daily training points. You’ll gain over 200 Trailblaze EXP for each tier you reach, netting you over 1000 if you get all 500 activity points. This EXP amount also scales with your progression!
The tasks you’ll have to do each day range from completing a daily mission to using weakness break on enemies. You’ll also often find tasks like finishing Survival Index activities such as Calyx Buds and Stagnant Shadow. As long as you gain 500 points each day, you’ll get plenty of EXP among other rewards!
If you’re still early on in the game and still need to unlock daily training, make sure to explore how to unlock Daily Missions in Honkai: Star Rail.
Simulated Universe Immersion Rewards and First-Time Clearance
The Simulated Universe provides two different opportunities for you to get EXP and level up quickly. The first is by clearing a world for the first time, giving you 600 EXP alongside Stellar Jade and other rewards. On top of this, you’ll eventually unlock Immersion rewards, giving you 200 EXP and relics in exchange for Trailblaze Powder. If you need relics and plan on doing Simulated Universe runs, this is a great option to try out!

Operation Briefing Rewards in Honkai: Star Rail
Another feature in Honkai: Star Rail that rewards you for progression is Operation Briefing, a multi-part list of missions that give you Trailblaze EXP and other rewards. While each task only gives you 100 EXP, you can do several of these per step, with numerous parts available. You’ll also naturally reach these milestones over time as you level up your characters, complete quests and do other activities, giving you an extra incentive to explore everything the game has to offer.
Doing Survival Index Activities Using Trailblaze Powder
Diving a little further into the Survival Index, this gives you ways to get character EXP books, ascension materials and other rewards. For every 10 Trailblaze Powder you consume, you’ll gain 50 Trailblaze EXP regardless of your activity.
In other words, if you use all 180 powder at once, you’ll get 900 EXP! Even at higher Trailblaze levels, this is a massive amount you can get relatively quickly and is one of the best ways to get EXP consistently. These alone let me fly from level 21 to 24 in about a day during my playthrough, alongside doing a bunch of random side quests.

Opening Treasure Chests
Although not a fast way to get EXP, treasure chests are another method for slowly getting some if you have nothing else to do or want to complete each area in the game. For every basic chest you open, you’ll gain five Trailblaze EXP, with bountiful and precious chests giving upwards of 20. While this isn’t a lot, these numbers add up over time, especially if you open hundreds of treasure chests.
Good luck with your Honkai: Star Rail leveling adventures! It can be quite the grind, and as of writing this, I’m getting close to level 34 for the next part of the Xianzhou Luofu quest line. Still waiting for good enough gacha RNG to get my second five-star character, too, but that’s a story for another day.
