Frostpunk 2’s main cog to keep the city running is the people and the workforce. Without a thriving population, progress will always remain stagnant, which can even be detrimental to your city. Increasing your population isn’t as simple as building housing and instantly spawning people. Here’s how to increase your workforce and population in Frostpunk 2.

How to Increase Population in Frostpunk 2

It is quite common to think that building more Housing Districts increases the population. However, the real way to increase the population is to wait until your city “makes” more people. On the upper-right panel, you’ll see the population icon. Hovering over it will show your population’s growth progress, which at the start of the game is always 0%.

Increasing this isn’t as intuitive, but you want to meet all the people’s needs. You want to reduce the tension, produce Goods, keep the people well-fed, provide heat, and most importantly, give the people shelter. When your city is thriving, your population will rapidly grow.

However, when things are dire, your population will remain stagnant. Not only that, if your population is stagnant and you have problems stockpiling, you’ll also lose people through crime, disease, and the freezing cold. People will continuously lower their trust in you and eventually exile you, and it is game over.

Satisfy the needs of your people, and the population will increase. When the population goes up, they’ll need shelter or Housing Districts. Remember, population increases come first before housing.

How to Increase Workforce in Frostpunk 2

When you are constantly out of the workforce, it just means you are running out of people who are free. If you have a lot of things being constructed, you might lack the workforce to perform more actions. It doesn’t technically mean you are lacking in the workforce.

The workforce is directly tied to the population. If your city has a high population, you also have a larger workforce. However, some laws can get passed that help you get more workforce without increasing population. These laws even became the most memorable thing in the first Frostpunk game, which is activating child labor to ensure the survival of the city, putting the kids into the coal mines to provide more heating to the city.

If you are looking to increase your workforce, increase your population or wait until some of your actions finish to free up some of your workforce.
