How to Increase Move PP in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Poke-PEDs

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and every Pokémon game, really, your team’s attacks and other abilities consume a resource called “PP.” Short for Power Points, PP is essentially the equivalent to MP in other RPGs. Rather than having a point pool to fuel moves, each move a Pokémon has draws from its own PP pool, though some moves don’t have many uses. But it’s possible to bump those limits up a little. Here’s how to increase move PP in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How to Increase Move PP in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

There’s an item you can get a hold of in Pokémon games called “PP Up.” These items (and similar ones like HP Up) are how you can give your Pokémon a little extra boost past what they earn naturally. There’s a limit to how many times a Pokémon can consume these items, but that’s what you can do.

If you’re trying to figure out how to find PP Ups, these items aren’t easy to come by. We have a guide explaining how to purchase them, and you can’t just get them from regular stores. You can also get them from high level Tera Raids as rewards. Finally, you can also find them randomly on the ground out in the open world. You can’t rely on that last one, but at least it’ll ensure the game tosses you a few early on.

There’s also an item called PP Max in Pokémon games, although we haven’t confirmed how to get those in Scarlet and Violet just yet. That said, those items are effectively three of the base items at once. This is related to the upper limit, which is that each move can only get a PP Up boost three times. The number of PP depends on the move’s beginning number, but you’ll never be able to raise it more than three times.
