How to Hatch the Bird Egg in Lord of the Rings Gollum

Gollum gets a pet.

In Chapter 3 of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, you will have a few different tasks to complete, but the most important one is located in the bird breeding hall. The Candle Man will instruct Gollum to hatch a bird egg, which doesn’t make much sense at first, and I’m here to cover how the hatching process works within Mordor.

To hatch the bird egg in Gollum, you have to match the heat of the furnace with the specific egg color. Depending on the egg color you have chosen, you will need to utilize a specific amount of wood and bellow pumps. Below you can find the amount of heat and bellow pumps that are required for each bird egg color.

Egg Hatching Furnace Requirements in Gollum:

  • White – 4 Firewood and 2 Bellows Pumps
  • Black – 2 Firewood and 3 Bellows Pumps
  • Brown – 3 Firewood and 4 Bellows Pumps

When you enter the Carrier Bird breeding room, you will see an egg on display that can be grabbed and thrown into a vat of liquid. Use the pumps to choose the color, then throw the egg in the vat and pick the egg back up. Turn around and bring the egg to the nest on the incubator and place it in the middle.

Now head over to the furnace and throw your firewood in that matches the color. After the wood, use the bellows. Match the color with the heat listed above. Once this is done, head over to the incubator and pull the lever. This will start a cutscene in The Lord of the Rings Gollum and you can finish the chapter after hatching a new pet.
