So, let me tell you how to haggle with Van so that he will buy your items from you for a higher price in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life.

You can either sell items by shipping them on your farm or by selling them to Van. Van comes to Forgotten Valley to open shop on the third and eighth of every season. Van takes everything whilst Takakura is rather selective as to what can go into the shipping container. It ends up being easier just to store everything until Van comes to town as your bag space is quite small.

When you interact with Van, select the option to sell your items, and choose up to eight. When he offers you a price, reject it. He will be disappointed. Then repeat the process again. It can take several attempts but eventually, he will provide you with a higher counteroffer.

I find that this is worth it for valuable items like the Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life holy grail that is gold wool. At a base rate of 6000G, it really adds up after he offers more. It is up to you whether you want to go through the process for low-value items such as basic fish, flowers, fossils, etc. I did it a few times, but the small financial gain wasn’t worth the extended time that I had to look at Van’s face.

There you have it! A way to get more money for the produce that you worked hard to obtain. Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is such a nostalgic experience and part of that is that it doesn’t hold your hand when it comes to explaining certain game mechanics. Luckily we know how to feed the dog and obtain the ducks so that you aren’t left confused!
