How to Get the Super Missile in Metroid Prime Remastered

It takes a lot longer than you might expect

Metroid Prime Remastered is a hell of a game, whether it’s your first time playing or you’re revisiting one of your GameCube favorites. “Search Action” in a first-person, massive 3D world sounds intimidating, but for the most part Metroid Prime is pretty easy to figure out. But there are a few times it tries to trip you up. One such time is with the super missile, a Samus Aran staple. So how do you get the Super Missile in Metroid Prime Remastered? I’ll tell you.

How to Get the Super Missile in Metroid Prime Remastered

I think the reason Super Missile can trip people up is because the map in this game starts to be a little tricky in a way that can send players on a wild Google chase. If you’re following along the natural path it’s likely you found a room with multiple scan switches, and signs there should be more in the room (also, lots of bees). There are two strange pillars as well, and scanning them points to a certain material makeup. If you look that up, you’ll see you need the Super Missile upgrade to break those things. It’s easy to then think, oh, Super Missile must be next! Hell yeah! But the reality is that room needs to wait, and there are several upgrades between you and the Super Missile.

To know you’re ready to get the Super Missile, you need the following upgrades first:

  • Charge Beam
  • Morph Ball Bomb
  • Varia Suit
  • Boost Ball
  • Space Jump Boots
  • Wave Beam

You’ll find the Super Missile between getting the Wave Beam, and the upgrade after that which is the Thermal Visor. The path all the way through the Varia Suit is pretty easy, but after that the nooks and crannies get a little more nuanced. Just make sure to hit the large sewage gate-looking barrier in the frozen river in Phendrana Drifts. That’s kind of the beginning of a straight shot through most of these upgrades.

So if you’re much earlier in the game and wondering, when am I supposed to get the Super Missile? Don’t worry about it. Once it’s actually time to pick it up it’s pretty obvious. But here’s a hint you’re getting real close:

That’s pretty hard to miss.
