Strand is the latest subclass in Destiny 2, using a life force that exists most visibly on Neomuna, a city of Neptune. But how do you make this cyberpunk, Spiderman-like ability yours? Here’s how to get the Strand Subclass in Destiny 2.
How to Get the Strand Subclass in Destiny 2
For players just heading into Lightfall, you might be wondering when you’ll be able to pick up Strand, the subclass that’s been splashed everywhere since the expansion was announced. I’m sorry to say that you won’t actually be able to fully unlock the subclass until you’ve completed the campaign.
That’s not to say you won’t have moments where you interact with the Strand, briefly gaining its powers. But these moments are just there to give us a taste and let us get acquainted with the new abilities. I can’t overstate how sad I was to lose my eldritch bug swarm after using them to explode everything in a one-mile radius.
If you want to unlock Strand as quickly as possible, you can expect that the full campaign will take you between five to seven hours. Longer, if you opted for Legendary difficulty. There are also eight total missions. They are:
- First Contact
- Under Siege
- Downfall
- Breakneck
- On The Verge
- No Time Left
- Headlong
- Desperate Measures
With enough time and dedication, you can likely complete the campaign in one day (or night, if you’re happy to forego sleep). But I find it’s best to take your time and enjoy all that Neomuna and Lightfall has to offer.

Additionally, between campaign chapters, you’ll have to complete side missions and ensure that your power level is up to standard. If it’s not, you’ll be instructed to go out and complete other activities to level up your gear. And that’s a good idea, because the enemies in Lightfall hit much harder than they did in previous seasons and expansions.
A good mission to check out is From Zero! Here’s our guide on it.
