How to Get the Rocksteady Mantle in Monster Hunter World (MHW)

Bye bye stuns

Nothing gets more frustrating in Monster Hunter World than a monster that continuously interrupts your attacks and it’s the Rocksteady Mantle that provides some relief. However, you need to earn the item first, and I’ll cover how you can get it in this guide.

How to Unlock the Rocksteady Mantle in MHW

To get the Rocksteady Mantle, you need to complete the “A Summons From Below” quest that appears after HR50. For the quest to appear, you need to hunt at least three Tempered Elder Dragons, which makes HR50 the minimum for most Hunters within the game. Of course, even reaching this level will take some time.

The first Tempered Elder Dragon that any Hunter will face is Kirin. After that, you need to take down at least two more unique Tempered Elder Dragons for the mantle quest to appear. In some cases, players may need to continue farming Tempered quests or Investigations to get “A Summons From Below” to appear.

Once the quest is unlocked, you will be able to see a 9-Star hunt that tasks you with fighting a Tempered Vaal Hazak and a Tempered Odogaron. You will have 50 minutes to slay both of them in the Rotten Vale. Vaal Hazaak will be the tougher of the two and the one you should focus on first. After the Elder Dragon is taken down, defeat Odogaron and claim the Rocksteady Mantle as your own.

If you move on to the Monster Hunter World Iceborne expansion, there is an upgraded version of the Rocksteady Mantle that you can unlock as well. This version is a lot more straightforward and will become available as a side quest after you progress through some of the main quests. Then you’ll be as tanky as ever.

Before you head into the Iceborne expansion, make sure you grab a weapon like The Defender Great Sword for more power.
