To get the Minimalist achievement, you’ll need to complete the main story while using only knives and handguns, excluding specific battles. These specific battles, while not listed, include the cannons during the Castle Gate battle, and the harpoons during the Del Lago fight. This is likely because there are no other ways to deal with these situations, so it wouldn’t be fair to void the achievement.

As for taking on the achievement itself, we suggest starting a New Game Plus playthrough on the Assisted difficulty. Neither of these will void the achievement and makes trying to take down your foes so much easier. You should also get the Primal Knife if you can, since its exclusive upgrade allows its durability to be completely removed from the equation. Otherwise, we suggest choosing the Red9 for the full run-through. It’s our favorite handgun, and when fully upgraded, it offers a ton of stopping power combined with a well-rounded set of stats.

Employ these strategies, and getting the Minimalist achievement shouldn’t be too difficult. The biggest challenge will come through dealing with the bosses, though even then the Red9 can do some surprisingly great damage. With the knife durability out of the picture as well, things will be surprisingly easy. Speaking of somewhat easy, here’s our guide on how to get Ashley’s Knight Armor in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
