How to Get the Malfeasance Catalyst in Destiny 2

"Even the Man with the Golden Gun should have pause"

A new Destiny 2 season, a new Exotic Catalyst. Gambit enjoyers (or Gambit-put-up-with-ers), rejoice! Malfeasance has finally joined the ranks of Exotic weapons with an obtainable Catalyst during Season of the Deep. I knew grinding that cursed game mode for this gun would pay off one day. Let’s look at how to get it and what it does.

Where to Find the Malfeasance Catalyst

This Catalyst, like many others, drops from the end of Playlist Activities randomly. These include Strikes (either Nightfall or from the standard Playlist), Crucible matches, and Gambit (if you didn’t get enough just unlocking the gun). I have a superstition that actually using the weapon you’re trying to get the Catalyst for makes it drop faster, but this is entirely unverified and based on my personal luck. Just throw yourself into these game modes and cross your fingers.

What the Malfeasance Catalyst Does

This Catalyst grants an increased range stat and Vorpal weapon to the gun. This means it’ll shoot farther and do increased damage to bosses, vehicles, and Guardians using their Super. It’s a nice perk – maybe not as flashy as some other Catalysts but this gun is already a bit of a monster. Stacked with the Exotic trait that causes explosions after a few shots and this could become a real workhorse in standard activities.

That’s all there is to it! Unfortunately, it’s all about luck of the draw this time around. Strange, too considering getting the Exotic itself is such an involved process. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky it doesn’t require even more Gambit.

If you still don’t have Malfeasance, check out our guide here on how to get it. It’s a bit of a long-haul, but this is an incredibly versatile Exotic with some incredible animations, gun feel, and ornaments, so it’s worth it in my opinion. But that may just be the sunk-cost fallacy talking.
