Where to Buy the Goat in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life

Unlike cows and sheep, the goat is not purchased through Takakura’s ledger. In fact, Takakura has nothing to do with the goat at all. It is Van, the traveling merchant, who will sell you the goat when you’ve met the requirements for him to stock it. The requirements are rather strict, and it is best to know what they are and be prepared in advance. Otherwise, you will end up like me, I was ready to buy the goat and I had a space for it in my barn. Then suddenly, the night before Van would be in town, two of my cows had ideas about their stations, and the last spot in my barn became a nursery. I had to wait another year!

When you know how to come across the goat, the process is rather straightforward. However, it is easy to miss, and having to wait another year is a considerable blow. If you know how to get the goat in advance, you will save yourself the heartache that I felt.

The goat is a great addition to the farm as the milk that is produced is worth more than your cow’s milk. The remake also changed the goat for the better. In the original, the goat would only produce milk for a year and then you would have to ship it away and purchase a new one. Now, you can keep your goat permanently and it will continue to produce milk for you.

The 40,000G investment might seem steep, but your goat will end up making back that initial investment and more. When I purchased my goat, I was able to convince Van to lower the price by haggling with him. It is worth attempting to haggle with him as it ends up being more money in your pocket! Happy farming!
