How To Get The Fat Chocobo Mount In Final Fantasy XIV

I need this fat birb in my life ASAP

I have to keep it real with everyone here; Final Fantasy XIV is the first MMO that has really pulled my attention to the fullest degree. From the massive worlds that I’ve gotten to explore to the Free Company that I have joined, it feels like the possibilities for what I can do in this world are endless. One thing has continued to evade me, however, and that is where I can finally get my hands on the Fat Chocobo. You see, this plump bit of poultry was one of the first reasons I got interested in the game, so I had to find out where to finally get one. I’m happy to share that information with you today, as well.

Where To Get Fat Chocobo Mount In Final Fantasy XIV

If you’re hoping to find the Fat Chocobo directly in the game, like I spent countless hours doing, you won’t have any luck. You must invest and purchase the “A Realm Reborn Digital Collectors Edition” from Square Enix. Thankfully, it’s not expensive, running around $20 to purchase, but for that price, you’ll also get a few other exclusive items:

  • Fat Chocobo
  • Behemoth Barding
  • Coeurl Mount
  • Wind-Up Moogle
  • Baby Behemoth Minion
  • Helm of Light

Once you have purchased this pack, you must visit the closest Delivery Moogle to claim all of your newly earned items. Open your inventory, select the Fat Chocobo summoning item, and add it to your hot bar to get your new friend ready for action.

There are more Digital Collectors Editions available, but they are all exclusive to the Mog Station, so get ready to subscribe to one of the best MMOs on the market and claim this pack to get your hands on easily the best mount available in the game. Sure, some may be faster, better overall, and just a little slimmer, but this chunky hunky bird needs all the love in the world.

Fat Chocobo Versus Regular Chocobo: Are There Any Differences?

Beyond a cosmetic difference, is there anything that makes the Fat Chocobo a must-purchase? Well, it’s hard to say. For Lalafell players like myself, having a full-sized Chocobo instead of the little Choco-nugget I’m used to riding around on is nice. The only other main difference is a new background track, which is rather humorous to go alongside the generally overstuffed Chocobo theme that you’re used to hearing. You’ll still get your Speed Increases as you progress through the main story, but it’s more for the cosmetics than anything this time around.
