If you know your Pokémon, you know why Earthquake is a big deal. If you don’t really know your Pokémon, I’ll tell you why Earthquake is a big deal. Either way, TM 149, Earthquake, is a big deal. Here’s how to get it in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and then what you need to craft additional copies.

How to Get the Earthquake TM in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Earthquake is one of the most powerful moves you can get in Pokémon, and it’s definitely the most powerful ground-type move – and ground is incredibly useful against crucial types, like ice. The only problem is you don’t want to use it in double battles, since it hits your teammates. But generally speaking, an Earthquake is a one-shot KO nearly every time.

In order to get TM 149 in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you need to reach the Asado Desert area. You’ll get Earthquake from a Battle League Rep in the nearby Cascarrafa city. Your task there is to defeat five trainers outside in the desert. You know, the usual.

Once you acquire the Earthquake disc, you’ll be able to craft additional copies. To do that, you’ll need the following materials:

  • 12,000 LP
  • 3x Phanpy Nail
  • 3x Diglett Dirt
  • 3x Barboach Slime

It’s a little on the pricey side, but it’s definitely worth it. As a move, Earthquake is a physical, 100 power ground-type attack with 100 accuracy. Even without hitting an opponent’s weakness, the Same Type Attack Bonus will still deal some serious damage. Any ground Pokémon needs Earthquake in their kit.
