How to Get the Ancient Cog in Octopath Traveler 2

What's an inventor without some tools?

Four secret jobs exist within Octopath Traveler 2 and each one of them has skills that players can work toward unlocking in their game. Each skill is going to have some different requirements or quests to complete, and in the case of the Inventor job, we need an Ancient Cog.

The Ancient Cog is needed as part of the tasks for the Arkar’s Coil skill. You’ll need to find three different unique items in order to get all the skills you want, and the cog is the toughest of the bunch. Our guide will cover exactly how you can find the Ancient Cog so you can obtain the skills you want in Octopath Traveler 2.

Octopath Traver 2 – How to Get the Ancient Cog

Step one in finding this item is to head over to Roque Island which won’t be available to access until later in the game, so make sure you can reach the island before embarking on the quest. When you can finally reach Roque Island, it’s time to look for the tavern in town.

Near the tavern, there will be a staircase that you’ll need to descend. At the bottom of the steps, you’ll find a lone house that sits on the left side of the stairs. Inside the house is a factory worky NPC that has a ponytail and brown hair. It’s important to enter the house at night time or before you look for the NPC.

The last step is to steal the item away from this factory worker next to the table. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to just ask for it or take it through force, so get ready to steal and be in your way. From there, you can finish the quest or get the other two items for Arkar’s Coil in Octopath Traveler 2.
